Oh Danny Joy! Coaster Rowe Is Player of the Season

Just when Danny Rowe thought nothing could come close to last season, he was in for a bit of a surprise.

The sharp shooter fired over 50 goals in all competitions in the 2016/17 campaign as AFC Fylde raced to the Vanarama National League North title.

He knew the step up was a big one, and has taken to it like a duck to water, netting 24 goals in The National League’s top flight to guide the Coasters into a play-off spot.

Now, he has been crowned the Vanarama National League Player of the Season.

This award is decided by the people who make the league what it is - our member clubs.

We ask for their vote for the season’s top performers and announce the chosen man. The striker was the overwhelming winner.

AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor knows just how good he is and what an impact the striker has had after making the step up.

“Danny has been outstanding all season long and I think he quickly answered any questions people had of him,” he said.

“As a club we are lucky to have him and we hope he continues to keep the goals coming for a long time yet.”
