Ofori-Acheampong Is Likely To Miss Dartford's Kick-off

Dartford manager Tony Burman has confirmed striker Duane Ofori-Acheampong is to sit out the start of the Vanarama National League South season.

A knee complain will sideline to Dartford forward for longer than the club first anticipate.

He went under the knife at the end of last season but has suffered a setback and is expected to miss the club’s season opener at home to Hungerford.

Ofori-Acheampong, who impressed last season, may not play in the following two games at Braintree Town and also Havant and Waterlooville.

“I hoped he was going to be back by the 1st of July but there was more to the operation than we thought, or what showed up on the scans,” said Burman.

“The consultant said he needed more time for the operation to heal properly,” he told the Kent Online.

Burman has high hopes for the new season and said he sees no reason why the Darts can’t again be in amongst the promotion places.

“Last year we did very well but fell just short in the playoffs,” he said. “This year will be difficult as well but we’re not going in with any fear.”
