Now That's What We Call Fan Power As Big Sums Are Raised

By Sam Elliott

Fan power has come to the fore as two sets of supporters have given their clubs a big boost.

Dover Athletic Supporters’ Club have handed over a cheque for £2,000 as a result of their latest fundraising campaign.

It takes their donations over the course of the season to nearly £6,000 and will be great news as the Whites look for an easier ride on the pitch next time out.

At the other end of the country, Darlington fans have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Their Boost the Budget campaign has smashed records - and now stands at £90,000.

The club’s supporters and backers have come together at the end of the last few seasons to help the club’s on-field push.

They announced at the end of last week that just over £80,000 has been raised - now just a few days on the National League North club have revealed last year’s £85,000 collection has been smashed.

New manager Alun Armstrong has vowed to spend the extra cash wisely.

“I’ll make sure I’ll bring players in that are value for money and I want players that want to play for Darlington Football Club,” he said.

“We want to progress and move up the league and show the fans that passion.”
