Now Let’s Grab A Play-off Place Says Smith

Bromley manager Neil Smith wants to turn FA Cup frustration into capturing a Vanarama National League promotion place.

The Kent club bowed out at the weekend as they lost 4-0 at Rochdale.

Smith didn’t take the defeat to heart and said after the game that he was proud of his players and their progress this season.

But now he wants his squad to put to one side their heavy defeat at channel their anguish in a positive way.

It’s back to league action on Saturday as Bromley head to Yorkshire to take on Guiseley.

Smith said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the players, it was always going to be a tall order against a League One club but we gave it everything we had.

“To be fair to Rochdale, they were really sharp. They came at us from an early stage and were very professional in their approach.

“We stayed in the game for as long as we could and had a number of chances before they got their second. The fans who travelled up were magnificent and I’m just disappointed we couldn’t give them anything to cheer.

“Now it’s about continuing our progress in the league and getting as many points on the board as we possibly can. We need to react in the right way.

“The FA Cup is great but we want to be in and around those promotion places and keep the club moving forward.”
