Now Gloucester Get Council Onside As Return Gets Closer

Gloucester City’s return home has secured vital council support - days after new investment was secured.

The National League South Tigers have had a great week and a motion to back the club was unanimously passed, they can begin planning.

Cllr Paul James said: “I have long said that it is an embarrassment to Gloucester that our football club has been playing outside the city for so long.

“That said, it is important that we don’t dwell on what has happened in the past but unite behind the club to get it back playing at Meadow Park as soon as possible.

“I have been impressed with the energy and enthusiasm displayed by the board in recent times and the progress the team has shown under Marc Richards management. Fans have been extremely patient and I understand and share their frustration, but I really believe things are happening now and we all need to do our bit to get this project over the line.”

Gloucester chairman Rod Jenner added:: “Everyone at the club is grateful and appreciative of the support shown by the council’s motion.

“We wholeheartedly agree with the call for local people, businesses and influencers to support the club and we are always looking for new supporters and sponsors to be part of our journey home.

“This club has been through a whirlwind of change in the past year, with many people doubting us bouncing back from such a position.”
