No Pressure On Moors In FA Cup - Green

By David Richardson

The FA Cup is one of the rare occasions where Solihull Moors can play without pressure says defender Kristian Green.

He will be tasked with keeping out League Two's high-flyers Wycombe Wanderers and is getting another bite at doing so after last season.

Green reached the third round of the competition last season with Stourbridge where they lost 2-1 at Wycombe's Adams Park.

Speaking to the club's website, he said: “It was an amazing experience. Getting to the first round of the FA Cup is amazing but to get to the third round with a team like Stourbridge from that level – we had to win a lot of games to get to the third round, so that journey was incredible and especially with all the media attention as well.

“It’s a great exposure for non-league teams and non-league players as well. From our FA Cup run, Dan Scarr got a move to Birmingham City and is now on loan at Wycombe.

“Another player went on to league football and I came to Solihull in the National League so it’s brilliant for players to help get the moves that they deserve.”

Gary Whild will step in as caretaker manger of Solihull on Sunday after Richard Money resigned in the week after just four National League games in charge and Green hopes with no expectation on them, they can cause an upset.

He added: “I’m not necessarily looking for revenge but hopefully we can get a result, especially with it being at home I think we’ve got every chance of doing it.

“Anything can happen in the FA Cup and we all know that it’s a brilliant competition so we’re all hopeful.

“It’s a break from the National League so we’ve got no pressure and nothing to fear. We’re underdogs and that’s an even better thing in our favour – we can go out there, play with freedom and enjoy the occasion.

“What will be, will be. Hopefully we can come away with a result.”
