The Fleet have been fantastic on the road so far this season but at Stonebridge Road it’s a very different story.
Their 1-0 loss to Gateshead live on BT Sport was their fourth defeat already.
For a side with so much attacking talent that’s not good enough for the Irish manager, who took the club to the play-off semi-finals last season.
Their latest Kuflink Stadium set-back was unlucky, a cruel own goal by Chris Bush proved to be the difference. But McMahon knows they need to correct their home form if another challenge for promotion is going to happen.
“We need to be better here, that’s for sure,” he told us.
“We paid the price for a flat first 20 minutes. We dominated the ball, but we didn’t do enough of it.
“I don’t think there’s anything to read into the home form as such. Clearly you don’t want to lose four matches here already but it’s something we need to rectify quickly if we’re going to challenge.
“I think our performance at home deserve more than the points we’ve got. We dominate for long periods but you just can’t give a team a head start.
“We have reached the levels we set at home yet. We haven’t played with enough urgency for 90 minutes and if we go a goal behind we don’t come up with the answers.
“Away from home our results and performances are fantastic so we need to do both.”
They will put their form on the road to the test next with a trip to second-place Wrexham.
