The former Spireites defender comes up against the club for the first time this evening.
Barrow’s new manager has made what he calls a “decent” start to life as a full-time manager.
Evatt took charge of Chesterfield late last season in a caretaker capacity but with the club already down he was powerless to prevent relegation.
The former Blackpool player made ?? appearances at the Proact but says his fondness for the club can’t come into play now he has begun his management journey.
“There’s great people there,” he said. “I had some really good times and it hurt when the club went down.
“They have started very well, but it’s my job now to try and put a spanner in the works.
“They’ve won their first three games so we know how tough it will be but we think we’ve got a good side and that we can compete.”
Evatt is setting standards high and wasn’t content despite their come-from-behind point at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
“We have to get better and we will get better,” the Bluebirds manager said.
“I have said to the players that its all very well going away from home and getting a point but the standards I set for them, and the standards they set themselves, we expect better.
“We expect to win every game we play and Leyton Orient were certainly there for the taking for us.”
