Night Of Important North and South Games Are Ahead

By Sam Elliott

Battle resumes in the National League North and South this evening with nine games across the two divisions.

Every Tuesday night has real significance and 18 teams take to the field later with points at both ends of the table there for the taking.

From nowhere, Chorley are back in the National League North title race - and quite a lot of that is down to a veteran defender!

Mark Ellis, 36, has scored in five of the club’s last six matches. That impressive streak has seen his club claim 15 points from a possible 15.

The Magpies are now within touching distance of the top and victory at Radcliffe later on will move them onto 60 points, just two behind table-topping Chester.

With none of the top three in action, opportunity knocks for Kidderminster Harriers as well. Things will tighten up should they leave Marine successful.

Hereford fans are wondering if it’s too late for their team to join the title conversation. If they beat out-of-form Warrington Town it will be six wins in seven with Paul Caddis’ team really on a roll.

King's Lynn Town sit just outside the top seven and need to put the pressure on with victory at home to Oxford City.

Buxton are sixth and know the sides below them are on very capable. Leamington will be one of the teams looking to take their place in the play-offs - especially if they can win for a fourth game on the spin.

Spennymoor Town and Alfreton Town play with both not yet refusing to give up hope of a promotion push.

Down the wrong end, Farsley Celtic need results and fast. Southport could still get dragged in and David Stockdale’s side want to move them a little closer by grabbing their first win in ten attempts.

After Hemel Hempstead’s late victory over St Albans City on Monday night, there’s two more National League South fixtures to come.

Enfield Town moved out of the bottom four on Saturday following their fourth win in a row.

Next up is Eastbourne Borough, who will budge back into second place with a win in north London.

Salisbury’s lack of consistency has kept them in danger but they can ease those relegation worries if they beat Chesham United, who are just a few places above them in the table.

National League North fixtures:
Farsley Celtic v Southport
Hereford v Warrington Town
King's Lynn Town v Oxford City
Leamington v Buxton
Marine v Kidderminster Harriers
Radcliffe v Chorley
Spennymoor Town v Alfreton Town

National League South fixtures:
