Newby Leaves Bucks To Link Up With His Brother

It’s a family affair for new Chorley signing Elliot Newby – he links up with his twin brother Alex who already plays for the Magpies.

The 22-year-old becomes the fifth new face at Victory Park this season, joining from AFC Telford where he was player of the season last year.

Newby says leaving Telford wasn’t easy but told the club’s official website that Vermiglio played a big part in his move to the club.

“It was very difficult for me to leave Telford as I was really enjoying my time there,” he said.

“But the travelling was difficult, and after talking to Vermo and listening to what was being planned at Chorley, I felt that, combined with the reduced travel would help my game progress.”

Newby put in some outstanding performances for AFC Telford last season which led to big interest in his services, and Vermiglio says it was a relief to get him signed on.

“We’re really excited to get this deal over the line,” he said. “There were a lot of clubs interested in Elliot after the excellent season he had at Telford.”

“He’ll give us extra creativity and goal threat, and the flexibility to play a number of formations.”
