The new Hampton & RB boss, who took over last month after Mel Gwinnett’s departure, will have to learn fast.
He made an early error when he was trying to lure striker James Roberts to south west London.
The former Havant & Waterlooville goal getter left the gaffer in a flap while he was away and he now hopes his new forward will do to others what he has done to him.
“I remember playing against James numerous times, he always seemed to score past me,” the Beavers boss, a former goalkeeper, said. “Hopefully he can start scoring some goals for me now.
“I was away and went scuba diving. I was bouncing messages with him and we had got to a critical moment in the negotiation and my battery died!
“I had to race back to my hotel and put the phone on charge. Finally I got power and got the message to say it was good news.”
Hampton have added a number of new faces, with midfielder, Michael Atkinson and Josh Keeya, full-Back Archy Taylor and winger Gianni Crichlow a few of the new faces heading to the National League South clubl
“The players’ personalities along with what they can bring as players is just as important,” Julian said in his latest update on the club’s YouTube channel.
“The players we’ve signed fit the criteria of the human being, and what we’re trying to create here.”
