The 6`2” forward started out at Hampton & Richmond Borough, and had a loan spell with Walton & Hersham, before being snapped up by Portsmouth as a 17-year-old initially on a one-year scholarship with the possibility of a professional contract
He has previously had trials at Stoke City, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers and was immediately loaned out to play for Havant & Waterlooville.
He had further loan spells with Dorchester Town and Bognor Regis Town before re-joining Hampton on a permanent basis in July 2013.
He moved to Hayes & Yeading United in December 2013 and then back to Bognor, also more permanently, in February 2014 until switching to Sussex neighbours Burgess Hill Town in the summer of 2016.
Just over a week ago, Tonbridge reduced its first-team playing budget and manager Steve McKimm was forced to release three players, including Thompson.
The now 23-year-old signed for Angels in January 2017.
