New Eras Starting In The North And South On Saturday

By Sam Elliott

It’s all about the new managers in the National League North and South on Saturday after a festive period full of change.

There’s been more comings and goings than we know what to do with and this weekend new eras begin as 2024 gets going with a fresh starts and big expectations.

It’s been all change in the National League North and Steve Watson is just one of the bosses hoping for a new manager bounce.

The former York and Gateshead man is trying to save Darlington and it’s a long first trip with the Quakers heading for King’s Lynn. Can Graeme Lee revive Spennymoor’s once exciting season? He has a home start, with Brackley Town heading to the north east.

Neither Tamworth or Scunthrope United fancy changing their managers any time soon.

Andy Peaks’ Lambs just won’t let Iron boss Jimmy Dean and his team go - and they welcome Buxton, while table topping Scunny, who lead the way on goal difference, face a threat to their great home record with Boston United the visitors in a huge Lincolnshire derby.

Chorley want to keep them both on their toes with a fourth win in a row but Alfreton Town want promotion themselves. South Shields need to get their season going ahead of their new manager’s arrival and face a Warrington side who have just seen off Chester.

There’s a new face in a National League South dug-out who has won the National League and the National League North!

Adam Murray wants to one day complete the set but the focus for now is saving Eastbourne Borough from the drop - and that starts on Saturday against Torquay United.

It will take a lot to stop Yeovil Town, who are seven points clear but Bath City are always tricky and the others need a favour from the Romans.

Hampton & RB have done superbly to keep the leaders in sights and face an examination of their staying power when they head to Essex to take on Braintree Town.

Chelmsford City have only lost twice on the road but Worthing are the division’s top scorers and have seven goals in two matches.

Truro City are looking for a third win in a row against bottom side Dover Athletic and there’s focus on both ends of the table as Aveley take on Welling United.
