National League's February Monthly Award Winners Revealed!

By Sam Elliott

February was the month when the National League title race exploded into life – and it’s time to reward some of the headline makers.

We are delighted to present the division’s Manager, Player and the Vanarama Volunteer of the Month following an action-packed four weeks of action.

At the turn of 2021, it appeared that leaders Torquay United were about to run away with it.

But something was going on at Sutton United, and the south west Londoners decided their race wasn’t quite run yet.

Matt Gray has dedicated his life to tactics, systems and coaching and since retiring aged 25 has left no stone unturned.

His near 15 years learning his trade are serving him well, and last month his team shone - Stockport County, Boreham Wood, Wealdstone and Dagenham were put to the sword as their title rivals wobbled.

They have closed the gap right up - and we’re bracing ourselves for a titanic title tussle.

So good were Sutton, the Player of the Month award is heading to Gander Green Lane as well.

Craig Eastmond is in his fifth full season with Sutton and the midfielder is desperate to take the club into the EFL for the first time.

Last week, he made his 250th appearance for the club - and scored a goal to cap it off.

The 30-year-old is the U’s Mr Reliable, and while free-scoring midfield partner Harry Beautyman often grabs the headlines, Sutton just aren’t the same side without him.

The player who grew up with Cesc Fàbregas at Arsenal keeps bringing class to the middle of the park in the National League.

We love the Vanarama Volunteer of the Month Award as those who give up their time are rightly acknowledged.

Ten years ago John Richardson agreed to help coordinate Bromley’s 100+ Club and it has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Running it alongside friend Arthur Duplock, the pair have helped raise over £30,000 for their club.

Raising membership from 15 in the first year to over 450 today, it has captured the fans’ imagination.

The income streams have been crucial to the club in Covid times, and the efforts have not gone unnoticed at Hayes Lane.

Congratulations to all our fantastic winners!
