National League South: Complete Weekend Preview

With things so tight and with so many points to play for over the next two weeks, it could be a crucial time for many clubs.

The battle to be Christmas number one will be won by Torquay United - if they defeat Hemel Hempstead Town at Plainmoor on Saturday.

The Gulls will top the charts if they make it four straight wins but Lee Allinson has already ended the Tudors’ two-month winless run by making a winning start last weekend.

If Hemel can do the others a favour in the south west, any one of four other clubs could claim the leadership.

Boreham Wood have taken 12 points from a possible 12 and have a home game with Tonbridge Angels, who are in solid form themselves.

Weston-super-Mare may not be winning like they were in November, but a home game against Eastbourne Borough allows the third-place Seagulls the chance to increase the pressure.

Truro City have had a great season so far, so a few dropped points lately won’t rock their boat. The Tinners travel to St Albans City looking to reclaim first place.

It’s even possible for fifth place Dorking Wanderers to jump to the top on Saturday. Marc White needs a lot to go his side’s way, and they are on the road at Chesham United, who have lost all their four matches in December so far.

If they keep avoiding defeat, it won’t be long until Maidstone United are in the conversation. Farnborough are also well poised on 36 points and sit just inside the top seven meaning this match could be crucial.

Weymouth have a new manager and it’s a tricky start for Warren Feeney at Chelmsford City as the Terras try to climb off the bottom.

Bath City fans are still waiting to hear who their new boss will be but victory at home to Aveley would lift the mood.

Enfield Town are improving but Worthing won’t want to let more points slip against sides down the bottom. Elsewhere, Hampton & RB face Slough Town, Hornchurch take on Chippenham Town and Salisbury meet Welling United.
