National League South: Complete Weekend Preview

By Sam Elliott

Two points separate the top five in the National League South - and things are so tight that even a win for the seventh-place side could see them lead the way!

Things are certainly not dull this season, especially when you add in the FA Cup heroics of a large number of the clubs.

But the first round is put to the back of minds on Saturday with some brilliant matches to look forward to.

Farnborough are the leaders but they will likely need a very good weekend to keep things that way.

Spencer Day’s team travel to the form team right now, with Chelmsford City winning their last four league matches crowning Robbie Simpson the Manager of the Month - and the table-toppers will hope there’s a hangover from the Clarets 4-0 loss at Barnet.

Weston-super-Mare had better FA Cup fortune and can’t wait to tackle Bristol Rovers next month. First it’s Boreham Wood, who were paired with Leyton Orient in Monday’s draw.

There’s a huge game as Eastbourne Borough welcome Torquay United and both sides are well aware a win could take them top.

Despite a difficult few weeks, Hemel Hempstead are still second. A trip to Chippenham Town is their next assignment as they looked to get back on track.

Worthing and Tonbridge Angels both have big FA Cup games ahead but play each other looking to keep the good feeling going.

Dorking Wanderers are now a point outside the play-offs and Salisbury pay a visit with Maidstone United and Slough Town crossing swords.

There’s a big game down the bottom with Enfield Town and Aveley in need of points to escape the relegation zone.

Weymouth are bottom and Chesham United - yet another side excited about the first round in a few weeks - go to Dorset.

Elsewhere, Hornchurch face Bath City, Hampton & RB head to Truro City and boosted by their first victory of the season, St Albans City want to make it back-to-back wins when Welling United come to Clarence Park.
