National League North: Complete Weekend Preview

By Sam Elliott

With the FA Trophy making a dent in the weekend’s National League North programme, the leaders have the chance to put their foot down.

Chester have an opportunity to build a four-point advantage at the top with nearest rivals Kidderminster Harriers and Scunthorpe United not in action.

A sixth win in a row at Radcliffe on Tuesday night kept the Seals in top spot, which is where they’ll be regardless of what happens on Saturday.

But they’ll earn some daylight if they leave Peterborough Sports victorious, but it won’t be easy with Michael Gash and Luke Steele guiding the club into the top half of the table following three wins from five.

Curzon Ashton gave their title challenge a bit lift by scoring five at Oxford City in midweek, but Rushall Olympic are not the strugglers they once were and sit fourth in the six-game form guide.

Considering how often the leadership has changed hands, nobody should rule out Brackley Town.

Especially if they win at Hereford, who won’t want to miss their chance to close the gap on the top seven with a number of challengers having a day off. Buxton will return to the play-offs if they beat Southport.

King's Lynn Town won’t want to drop points for a third match running. They welcome Radcliffe, who are inside the bottom four on goal difference.

There’s a huge game at the bottom as Warrington Town - the side sitting just outside the drop zone - go to Needham Market, who are bottom but still in touch.

Elsewhere, South Shields take on Scarborough Athletic while it’s another Friday night match for Farsley Celtic, as Alfreton Town make the short journey to Silverlands.
