It’s a year like no other, and last night we had a third change of the leadership inside four days. That’s some going!
It’s been like this since the first day and you would struggle to find a more entertaining and open division anywhere.
So we’ve decided to have a look at what December holds for the current top seven - but that’s not to say it will be just those in the mix.
Aldershot Town:
On paper, their fixtures when you look at the league table looks good. Games with two of the bottom four and games with out-of-form Halifax and Maidstone. Gary Waddock’s side also have home derby advantage over Woking on Boxing Day. It’s a big month for the new leaders.
Fixtures:
Torquay A
FC Halifax H
Guiseley A
Woking H
Maidstone A
Sutton United
You just can’t discount Sutton - fourth at kick-off on Saturday, top come 5pm. But we’ll know a lot more about their challenge come New Year. Taking on two of the big boys, Leyton Orient - who surely will have a new manager by then - and Tranmere, there are also two very challenging trips to top seven sides Boreham Wood and Macclesfield
Fixtures:
Eastleigh H
Leyton Orient A
Tranmere Rovers H
Boreham Wood A
Macclesfield A
Wrexham
There’s only one word to describe Wrexham’s December: tough! Demanding visits to Macclesfield, Barrow and Gateshead will really test them - and the battle of two title contenders at the Racecourse Ground on December 23 is already looking a massive match.
Fixtures:
Maidenhead United H
Macclesfield A
Dover Athletic H
Barrow A
Gateshead A
Macclesfield Town
John Askey’s team are looking to do what they haven’t in seasons past - stay the course. If they can come through a tricky December relatively unscatched then they could build in the New Year. Home games with Wrexham and Sutton United could offer clues.
Fixtures:
Hartlepool A
Wrexham H
Bromley A
FC Halifax H
Sutton United H
Dagenham & Redbridge
Back in form and scoring goals again - but look away now Daggers fans! No game this weekend but three tough away games in their four festive games. If Daggers gather a good points haul, expect them to keep pushing.
Fixtures:
Barrow A
Eastleigh H
Leyton Orient A
Ebbsfleet A
Dover Athletic
After losing a little momentum, the Whites need to get back on track after just one point from a possible nine. With three home games in their December bundle - including a big Kent derby with Maidstone - it promises to be a big month.
Fixtures:
Bromley A
Hartlepool H
Wrexham A
Maidstone United H
FC Halifax H
Boreham Wood
After the little matter of Coventry City this weekend, Luke Garrard will be confident of a good December of results. Thanks to three home games, and a visit to bottom club Solihull Moors slipped inside, they will see an opportunity to move on up the table.
Fixtures:
AFC Fylde H
Solihull Moors A
Sutton United H
Torquay United H
