National League Cup Returns For Another Action Packed Night

By Sam Elliott

The National League Cup is back with a bang this evening with ten big matches as the four groups really start to take shape.

It’s been a goals-filled first month for the new competition, which pits our clubs against talented young teams from the Premier League and EFL.

Things are now ramping up as November arrives and there’s plenty of important points on offer this evening.

Group A sees four matches take place and Maidenhead United want to stay top of the early table.

Alan Devonshire’s team welcome Derby County’s U23 team to York Road with Aldershot Town taking on a Brighton & HA side who showed in the EFL Trophy at Wimbledon last week that they’re a young team going places.

Elsewhere in the group, Wealdstone are at home to Fulham’s PL2 team as Woking take on Southampton’s famous academy that had produced stars such as Gareth Bale and Alan Shearer.

There’s big Group B games and Forest Green Rovers get the chance to put their FA Cup agony at Stockport to one side when they take on Stoke City. Rochdale were also heartbroken as Bromley turned things around later on. They’re looking to bounce back against Blackburn Rovers PL2.

In Group C, managerless Boston United play host to Sunderland while Tamworth want to cause another cup shock - it’s Newcastle United’s young guns next.

There’s an all-Essex game in Group D as Braintree Town have a visit from West Ham United while Dagenham & Redbridge fans hope there’s more entertainment to come after their 5-5 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. West Brom head to East London later on.
