National League Clubs To Celebrate Non-League Day With Prostate Cancer UK

For the last decade the leading men’s health charity, Prostate Cancer UK, has worked side by side with the iconic annual football matchday experience, raising funds and awareness for and about the most common cancer in men.

This year, Vanarama National League, Vanarama National League South and North clubs hosting matches on the day will receive a limited edition matchday pennant marking the 10-year anniversary, showcasing their support for the leading men’s health charity and continuing a theme of activity on the annual day since 2014.

National League clubs can also request a Prostate Cancer UK fundraising pack and match day communications by emailing football@prostatecanceruk.org or calling 020 3310 7091.

In that time the charity has worked with the National League its sponsors Vanarama, as well as hundreds of clubs. They have reached hundreds of thousands of men as well as raising more than £250,000, attracting national media attention in the process. And this year will be no different.

Presenter and proud Hartlepool United supporter Jeff Stelling will be in attendance when his club visit Eastleigh in the National League, one of 10 focus matches across the UK to mark the 10 years.

What’s more, fans from Aveley to Yeovil Town – and everyone in between – can get involved on the day, from shaking a bucket, walking to the game or wearing the iconic Man of Men badge. They can also better understand their risk of the disease by completing the Prostate Cancer UK online risk checker.

Stelling, who has raised more than £1.7m for Prostate Cancer UK across 34 marathon Football Marches visiting several Non-League clubs along the way, said: “While I was hugely disappointed with Hartlepool’s relegation last season, there are some bright spots, and being back in the National League means we are part of Non-League Day once more. Even more impressively, it’s against my local club Eastleigh, so the football fixture Gods have been smiling on me!

1 in 8 men will be affected with prostate cancer; the disease is curable if caught early, but early-stage prostate cancer often has no symptoms, so it is vital that men know their risk. Men are at higher risk if they are over 50, Black or have a father or brother who has had prostate cancer.
