The Poppies comfortably saw off fellow National League North strugglers Bradford (Park Avenue) with a 4-0 win at the weekend.
The night before, Cox spoke at a fans forum and predicted a win of that exact scoreline ahead of his first game in the dugout.
Goals from Lindon Meikle, Connor Kennedy, Aaron O'Connor and Ben Milnes made light work of the Avenue - a win that sees Kettering move out of the bottom two.
"It was a big day, but I don’t get excited in winning just one game," Cox told the club's official video service.
"I’ll get excited when we put a consistent set of results together that means we’re in a position to look up at the play-offs.
"We’ve got some tough games ahead of us so we’re not getting excited.
"The win is good psychologically for the players – the dressing room is buzzing now."
