Murray Delighted With Boston United's Professional Cup Win

Boston United progressed to the FA Cup third qualifying round after a 5-0 win over Haughmond in the replay.

The Pilgrims boss Adam Murray paid credit to his players after they gained the victory, writes Tom Feaheny.

Boston United took the lead after 20 minutes and never looked to be giving it up as they soon doubled their advantage, three more goals in the second-half made it a pleasing evening for the side.

Speaking to the club's website after the win, Murray said.

"It was a real professional performance, we got the rewards we were due in the end, credit to them, they have given us two good games, in the end we got the job done and that what matters.

"The pattern of the games we have had, we've had players sent off, things like that, we know we can improve and get better but it is such fine lines, we got the end result we were owed."

James Clifton was able to be played in a more attacking position after recent additions at full-back we made and that is something that Murray is pleased to have seen happen.

"We wanted James to be playing higher up the pitch, he has had to drop back a little bit in recent games, but we have brought in Liam Wakefield so that means he can get forward and he does that job really well."

Next up attention turns back to the Vanarama National League North as they take on Darlington at home on Saturday and Murray revaled their will be transfer business coming soon.

"The aim is simple for us now to get our league campaign back up and running, there will be a few more ins and outs coming up to help us with that process."
