Much-Travelled Boco Becomes Latest New O`s Recruit

Leyton Orient have announced the signing of attacking midfielder Romuald Boco.

The 32-year-old Benin international has agreed a two-year deal at the Matchroom Stadium, and becomes the club’s eleventh summer arrival.

Born in France, Boco started his career at Chamois Niortais before crossing the channel in 2005 in order to sign for Accrington Stanley.

Boco went on to strike up a brilliant relationship with the Stanley supporters, and made thirty-one appearances during his debut season as John Coleman’s side went on to achieve promotion from the Conference (National League).

Having helped Accrington reach the Football League, Boco then helped the Club establish themselves in League Two during the 2006/07, making thirty-five appearances in all competitions as Stanley finished in twentieth spot.

Boco would go on to leave Accrington in January 2008, however, following international duty with Benin at the African Cup of Nations, and signed for League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers a month later to link up with former team-mate Paul Cook.

Between 2008 and 2010, Boco made sixty appearances for Sligo and spent a short time on loan back in England with Burton Albion during the 2009/10 season.

The midfielder then gained further experience across the globe in 2011, signing for Chinese side Shanghai East Asia where he spent a year before returning to Sligo for their 2012 campaign.

Having had a taste of several countries, Boco then returned to England and Accrington in August 2012, penning a one-year deal.

Boco then spent time at both Plymouth Argyle and Chesterfield for the 2013/14 and 2014/15 campaigns, before going out to India in January 2015 to sign for Bharat FC as their marquee player.

Following twenty appearances for Bharat, Boco signed for Portsmouth ahead of the 2015/16 season though found his playing time limited and spent a period on loan at Havant & Waterlooville.

With just shy of fifty international caps for Benin to his name, Boco then returned to Accrington for a third spell in January 2016.

Comfortable playing in a number of positions across midfielder, the 32-year-old made a total of thirty-eight appearances for Stanley last season, scoring 7 goals.
