Moyses' Men Know Things Can't Get Much Harder!

When you are struggling for form, a fixture list which reads leaders Salford City at home followed by away games at Harrogate Town and York City would make you wonder what you’ve done to upset the football gods.

Alfreton’s season hasn’t gone as expected, but new manager Chris Moyses seems to have brought with him some new belief.

The Reds may have only taken a point from a possible nine in their daunting schedule but there’s evidence there of improvement.

The former Lincoln City manager was delighted with his team as they drew 1-1 at York City on Saturday.

Now with a fixture list which is looking a little less frightening, Alfreton’s aim is to start climbing the table.

“I would have wanted us to have picked up a few more points so it is disappointing but saying that we have played three very strong sides and been in every game so we will look at the positives," he told the club’s official website.

“But I was delighted with the result, It was a good and deserved point and we have just come out of a run of three very very tough games and we had a target from those, we didn't quite reach it but I was pleased with the fitness and performances levels we showed.

"We need to build on it, we need to gain some momentum. I felt we lost a bit of that in the first half at York but we gained it again in the second half. It is an excellent point for us.

“I think our fitness levels are excellent at the moment, we've done a lot of work on that and played a few other full time sides recently in Salford and Harrogate and our fitness has matched up there.”
