More Lost Points Frustrate Pools Boss Harrison

Hartlepool United need to start managing games better if they are to climb up the National League table, according to boss Craig Harrison.

Pools went ahead twice against Gateshead on New Year’s Day but had to settle for a point after Wes York’s late leveller.

Harrison’s side have also been ahead in the recent home defeats to Macclesfield Town and Maidenhead United.

The Victoria Park outfit are down in 15th position and Harrison hopes his side start learning from the leads they’ve relinquished.

“I think over the season we have given up a lot of points from winning positions,” the boss told Hartlepool’s website.

“I think sometimes we get caught between seeing the game out and becoming solid like we did at Orient (2-1 win) or do you go and try to get the two-goal deficit to put the game to bed?

“We certainly need to manage the game a little better and hopefully if we get some more experienced players fit then better decisions will be made on the pitch.

“We’re certainly not happy with it but it’s another point on the board, we scored two goals and we looked capable of scoring more so we have to try and take those positives.”
