Chester welcome Solihull Moors this weekend for what is a crucial game in both club’s seasons.
Of course it sees the Blues manager Marcus Bignot come up against the side he had such great success with.
Managing the Moors for nearly five seasons, he took them to promotion from the Conference North into the National League before he took up the position at Grimsby Town.
But it’s a fight at the other end of the table which is occupying thoughts for Bignot and his former side these days.
Both are intrenched in the bottom four and this game is seen as crucial to both sides as they battle to prevent a return to the National League North.
Ross Thorpe is Bignot’s loyal number two after after following the manager around the grounds he knows memories can’t get in the way.
“We’re not thinking about how it is a former club or anything like that,” he told the Chester Chronicle.
“He built success at Solihull but all that matters on Saturday for us is the result and the three points - the performance comes after that.
“We know a lot about them, of course, but since the gaffer left there have been three managers in 12 months when before that they had one in five years.”
