Having gone 2-0 down early on at Blackpool it seemed the Seasiders were well on their way to a third round game with Arsenal.
But the National League promotion contenders had other ideas and found themselves level at the start of the second half.
A controversial extra time penalty was ultimately their undoing and Flowers knows what a game his team gave the League One club.
“I thought we were sensational from start to finish,” assessed the manager.
“Over the course of the tie the players were fantastic. I thought we always looked a threat going forward and we handled the game impeccably.
“It was a great advert for National League football and it could have gone either way.
“To go 2-0 down and respond like we did, when you know we could be in for a very tough night if they go and get a third, showed what they are all about.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the effort we put in and the commitment we showed over the two games and extra time. It was a hard way to lose.
“Of course we’re gutted but we can consider ourselves very unlucky.”
