They have announced the signing of former Bradford PA striker Adam Boyes, who becomes Jason Ainsley’s seventh summer signing.
Spennymoor paid a fee for the player as they look to mount a promotion challenge.
Prolific Boyes comes with bags of experience – previously playing for Boston United, Guiseley and Barrow – where he had no trouble finding the net.
He also had a spell at York City where he earned himself an England ‘C’ cap and a lucrative move to Scunthorpe United – but after speaking to Ainsley, Boyes knew he wanted to move to the Brewery Field.
“The negotiations have been going on for a long time, so I can’t wait to get started,” he told the club’s official website.
“As soon as I spoke to Jason I knew Spennymoor was the club for me as I know a few of the lads already here and it’s an ambitious club that wants to go up through the leagues.
“I will always work hard and play with passion for the shirt, and hopefully I can keep up my record of scoring goals.”
Moors kick off their debut campaign in the National League South against Chester on August 4 and have strengthen well in the close season.
Assistant manager Tommy Miller is confident in the latest addition to the squad – and he knows the goals will come.
He said: “We’ve got ourselves a proven goal-scorer at this level with Adam. He’s also experienced in the league above too with Guiseley, so we’re pleased to have a player of his pedigree join us.
“He’s going to bring something to the squad and he’s going to be a big player for us this season. We were very impressed when he played against us last season and have been working hard to secure his signature.
“It’s great he’s finally now a Spennymoor player,” he added.
