Macclesfield saw their lead at the top of the National League cut thanks to a dogged Moors performance at Moss Rose this weekend.
They remain in the bottom four but and in fine form - this was their seventh point from the last nine available to them.
It was a slight set-back for the Silkmen with their challengers winning but Askey knows it’s not a case of his team dropping points when they really shouldn’t.
“Solihull under Mark Yates have put a good little team together and you can tell that they’re not the same side as a few months ago,” said the manager.
“They’re getting better and they’re in a false position. The pitch stopped us playing and the conditions were really difficult.”
Moors next face a home game with Woking before the trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.
Macclesfield’s next league game is against AFC Fylde before their home game with bottom club Torquay United.
