Moors Begin Pre-Season With Back-To-Back Games

By David Richardson

Liam McDonald will be taking his full Solihull Moors squad to tonight's game against Barwell and again tomorrow at Highgate United.

The Moors begin their pre-season schedule with a bang, travelling to Evo-Stik Northern Premier side Barwell tonight before getting on the road again tomorrow to Midland Football League Premier Division side Highgate.

Then on Saturday, League One side Walsall are the visitors at Damson Park.

Manager McDonald is keen to get his men firing soon to meet the demands of the National League.

He told the club's website: "I want as many fans as possible at both of these games; we will take the full squad to both!

"I was desperate to get a couple of back-to-back games early on in pre-season after which the lads will train on Thursday prior to Walsall visiting.

"In this way we will soon be up to speed in all respects with the other full-time teams in the National League.

He continued: "We do have a few injuries, so for this week Shep and Ash are getting over knocks they picked up in training. Calum Flanagan needs another week following the knee injury he picked up last season and Chris Lait also needs another couple of weeks.

"James Chambers is also doubtful whilst Luke Benbow and Tom Tonks are on holiday. With Steve Hensel and Michael Barratt joining the back room training staff we are ready for whatever the season throws at us.

"I am really excited with the squad we have assembled and we hope to announce shortly details of three more signings – a goal keeper, centre half and striker."

Where next?
