Mission Accomplished! Pressure Finally Off For Brakes

Leamington boss Paul Holleran says he can’t wait for their final game of the season - he will finally be able to smile!

It will be a double celebration at The Phillips 66 Community Stadium on Saturday as the Brakes toast safety whilst visiting Salford City will be celebrating their National League North title.

It’s been a long, hard season for Leamington back at Step 2 but their draw at York City last Saturday confirmed their status for next season.

Now Holleran is looking forward to enjoying a game for a change with the pressure finally off.

The Brakes boss told the Warwick Courier: “It’s the first week out of a 40-week season that we haven’t been fighting relegation. We’d not been out of a relegation battle from week one.

“It’s difficult for a manager. You’ve got different emotions and different characters to deal with and you’ve got to keep telling them to keep believing and working hard.

“We’ve been fighting and scrapping our way out of the bottom three and we’ve never been able to put our head above the parapet and look towards the play-offs.

“It’s the first time on Saturday that we can turn up with a smile on our faces, have a smile and a laugh and have a real good go from 3 until 5. And then have a real good go in the bar afterwards.”
