The Minstermen could perhaps count themselves unlucky not to take all three points from their clash with the Blues - a game that eventually finished goalless.
Collins' men are now without a win in four league games but the manager thought there were good signs on show.
"I thought we played really well throughout the game to be fair," Collins told the club's YouTube service. "The only thing missing was that we didn't score a goal.
"There's a lot of positives to come out of the game. Not only did we work hard but we played some good stuff as well against a team that's doing well in this league.
"They're lucky to come away with a point, that's for certain so we're disappointed but there were so many positivies to come out of that."
The Minstermen recently put together a superb run of form following Collins' appointment but have faltered recently.
But their boss is confident they can put together a similar string of results again soon.
"That [performance] can be the start of something and we can build from here and get on a run where we get a bit of consistency in terms of performance.
"That's the key thing, moving forward."
