Mills: We Can Do A Lot Better

The Minstermen lost at home 1-0 to AFC Telford United, with boss Gary Mills saying their performance came up short as well as the result.

York City boss Gary Mills says his side must improve after they were defeated due to a Matthew Barnes-Homer strike just before half-time, writes Tom Feaheny.

Mills spoke to BBC Radio York after they were defeated and said why he was not pleased with how they played as well as losing.

"It is not the start we wanted, we did okay in the first half, we wanted more of the same in the second but that did not happen.

"We had chances and they were saved, but then we didn't play like we should have done, I wanted us to utilise the full-backs but that didn't happen."

He added: "I thought Telford were decent they looked lively and decent, but they had their chance and took it, sometimes when you are not going to get that goal, you just have to take the point and move on."

York will now look to gain their first points of the season away to Blyth Spartans on Tuesday and Mills knows how important that game will be.

"On Tuesday we have to show what we are made of, we have had a set back now it is all about how we recover from it.

"There are a lot of games in August, you don't want to be falling behind even further, it will be a difficult place to go to in Blyth, now we have to show what we can do."
