Memory Lane: FA Trophy Fourth Round 2016/17 Season

By Tom Feaheny

We are now just three games away from Wembley during the 2017/18 campaign but what happened last year at the fourth round stage?

While last season it was York City who ended up winning the competition these were the sides who got through to the semi-finals, writes Tom Feaheny.

Boreham Wood 0 Lincoln City 2

It was a memorable season for the Imps who got to the semi-finals of the Trophy as well as gaining promotion and that famous FA Cup run as well.

Joe Ward produced a splendid finish to put Danny Cowley's side in front.

The game was wrapped up in the 73rd minute when a Sam Habergham corner was headed into his own net by Matt Paine.

Tranmere Rovers 5 Barrow 1

Tranmere reached a cup semi-final for the first time in 17-years.

This game also saw Cole Stockton score his first senior hat-trick.

Paul Cox's Barrow took the lead through Jordan Williams, but Rovers would go onto score five unanswered goals afterwards.

Apart from Stockton's hat-trick, Michael Ihiekwe and Andy Mangan both got a goal each to ensure it was a comfortable victory for the side.

York City 1 Brackley Town 0

Ten-man York City got through to the semi-finals and were one step closer to winning the Trophy after a hard-fought win.

Striker Jon Parkin was once again on the scoresheet with his goal being crucial, before scoring with his head he had seen a penalty saved.

Brackley who this year are again at the fourth round, hit the crossbar three times during this loss.

Macclesfield Town 2 Dulwich Hamlet 0

This was the only match that went to a replay with the Vanarama National League side eventually going through.

The Silkmen started well and two quick-fire goals from Rhys Browne sealed their progression.

Both times he cut in from the right to score and two goals in two minutes saw John Askey's side through.
