McNulty: Barnet Are The Best I Have Seen For Many Years

Rochdale manager Jimmy McNulty says Barnet are the best side he’s seen in nearly ten years.

The club’s long-serving former defender was so impressed with the runaway leaders on Saturday that he described them as better than any team he has come up against since 2015 in League Two or the National League.

The Bees rolled Rochdale over 4-0 this weekend, a statement victory secured by Callum Stead, Dom Telford, Ryan Glover and a Rhys Browne wonder goal.

McNulty is not in two minds who will be crowned champions after Barnet opened up a nine-point gap.

York City and Forest Green Rovers do have games in hand, and the title race resumes on Tuesday night with the chasing have plenty to do.

“We were completely beaten in all aspects of the football match,” the manager said following Saturday’s conclusive defeat at the Crown Oil Arena.

“We were completely bossed by the table toppers. We were aware of what could come. We watched their game against York on Tuesday night and Barnet were amazing.

“I have to credit them. As much as we are disappointed in our performance, I think it’s unfair if I don’t.

“They are by far the best team to come here in my time at the club in the National League and in League Two as well. They are the best performing all round team since I have been involved here.”

Rochdale are now seven points shy of the play-off pack but one of their games in hand comes on Tuesday when they face Tamworth at The Lamb.

“We have to rejuvenate as quickly as possible now, the schedule is heavy,” he said. “We’ve got an important week ahead of us.However heavily defeated we were against Barnet, it was still only three points lost.”
