McMahon Believes Ebbsfleet Are On Right Path

Ebbsfleet United manager Daryl McMahon was pleased with how his team played against Cambridge United.

Although the Vanarama National League new boys may have lost to their League Two opposition 2-0, McMahon believes it was another step in the right direction, writes Tom Feaheny.

Speaking to the club's website and Charles Webster, McMahon said.

“I thought it was an excellent game,I thought we created a number of chances that we didn’t capitalise on and probably that was the difference between the two teams. They were more clinical in the final third than we were.”

“The goals were poor from our perspective, but it happens and I’d rather it happen in pre-season, then we can iron them out,” he said. “We’ve got to be better in the other box, without a doubt. We didn’t just create half chances, they were good chances that we should have taken but overall the performance was very pleasing.”

During the game Andy Drury had to come off due to picking up an injury and McMahon says it’s too early to assess that one: “We won’t know till Thursday. He has rolled his ankle and it was his ankle he had issues with last season so hopefully he won’t be too bad, but we’ll assess on Thursday."
