The Seagulls’ play-off hopes in the National League South have taken a huge dent in recent weeks.
Defeats to Hampton & Richmond, Chippenham and, on Tuesday night, St Albans City, leave them seven points adrift of the play-off places.
Despite their 2-0 home defeat to the Saints, McGregor reckons his side could, and maybe should, have won.
The boss told the club’s Facebook page: “It’s very difficult to win football matches when you’re not taking your chances.
“We could have been three or four up and we didn’t take them. Football is a cruel game and they got the first goal from our mistake.
“I’m still flabbergasted how we’ve not won it, or got anything from it. It’s tough to take but St Albans are fourth for a reason - they made things difficult.
“I’m pleased with how we passed the ball but we’ve got to be more ruthless in front of goal and in our own third.”
