With The Lions playing two Championship sides in the space of a few days, the keeper who is having his first pre-season at Nethermoor Park says it is important to boost fitness, writes Tom Feaheny.
“It was just nice to get 45 minutes under my belt, I thought the boys have done well. It’s good for everyone to get a run out, at the end of the day we’ve got to push on and see if we can do better than today.”
When looking at their next game, Maxted believes that the Tykes will once again help push the team going forward as they look to be ready for August 5th.
“Barnsley is a good test for us and for them. It also helps the team togetherness, there is a lot of new faces. It is a big factor getting as many games in as we can before the first match.”
Adam Lockwood's side are expected to play a number of trialists during the game, along with first-team players and a number of academy individuals.
