Marine Ready To Move As They Share Stadium Plans

Marine have announced plans for a new 5,000 capacity stadium that they hope could spark an exciting future.

The National League North club have played at their current Rossett Park home for more than 100 years but believe the time is right to look for a new base.

They could depart the Marine Travel Arena after sharing their plans to build a new stadium at an 8.32-acre site on Edge Lane in Thornton.

But project is subject to funding being secured by club, and still required Sefton Council's approval of a planning application for the homes and the stadium itself.

Marine say their ambitious plans include plans include the 5,000 capacity stadium, gym car and 20-bed hotel.

But CEO James Leary says they need help to made the dream a reality.

He told the club’s website: “It was our aim to find a site within L23 that could become our new long-term home.

“I am delighted that we have made it this far in our aim to safeguard the future of Marine Football Club for the next 100+ years and create a project that will become a huge community asset.

“The work to making this a reality though is far from complete and it will need to be a huge effort from everybody to ensure we can raise the funds to make it happen.

“I would like to thank Bellway Homes for their support and contribution so far. We still have a huge seven-figure sum to raise though and I would like to urge anybody who wants to get involved with the club in any way and help with the funding of the stadium to email me confidentially.”
