Manny May Miss Ten Weeks As Wrexham Count The Cost

Wrexham manager Sam Ricketts has announced that defender Manny Smith is set to sit out the next two months.

The 29-year-old had to come off in the 1-0 defeat to Solihull Moors, the Red Dragons’ only defeat of the season so far.

Ricketts had feared he could be missing for longer because of the knee injury but he could now be back in November.

"It's not as serious, but we're looking at eight to 10 weeks and then he'll be back," Ricketts confirmed.

The manager said despite a record breaking start things need to get better.

“We have managed to take two points a game on average, certainly before a ball was kicked you would have taken that,” he said.

“But I feel we need to get better. We’re doing well, it’s been a brilliant start, but we have improvement to make and I need to stress that.

“I want us to be up there as I’m sure the players and the fans do but there’s another level we have to reach. By getting better we give ourselves a chance."
