Maidstone Bring In Former West Ham Forward

Maidstone United have signed forward Zavon Hines.

The 28-year-old, who started his football career with West Ham United, spent the latter part of last season with Southend United.

After rising through the Hammers youth set-up, he signed for the first-team in 2007 and made his debut in 2008, going on to make thirty league and cup appearances over a four-year period.

He would surely have made more appearances had it not been for knee injuries which kept him out for long periods.

There then followed a series of moves north and south. After joining Burnley in August 2011, he went on loan to AFC Bournemouth towards the end of that season.

The 2012/13 campaign was spent with Bradford City and, after that one-year deal ended, he signed for Dagenham & Redbridge.

He stayed at Victoria Road until the move to Southend last December.

Born in Jamaica, he has international caps for England at under-21 level, scoring twice on his debut.
