The 22-year-old will link up with Matt Jansen’s side with immediate effect.
Haughton is no stranger to the non-League circuit having previously played for Curzon Ashton, Trafford, Runcorn Town and Nantwich Town.
Last season he went on loan to Salford City and had a successful spell with the Ammies.
During his time at Highbury with the Cod Army, the 23-year-old has made forty-six appearances.
Talking about joining he said: "I'm excited to push on with Chorley, who are a well-established club at this level. After meeting both the gaffer and Chorley I can't wait to get going - starting against York City on Saturday."
He added: "It was great to meet all the lads at training and hopefully we can go on to bigger and better things. I've played at this level before; it's always been competitive. We've just got to get a few wins under our belt which will help push us up the table."
Jansen said: "Nick is a bright, young, intelligent midfielder with plenty experience at this level. He offers a different dimension going forward, which will sometimes help if we want to change the system. I'm positive he'll be an asset throughout the campaign".
