The leaders showed they have staying power, a 2-1 win at Aldershot Town pushed them four points clear at the top of the National League.
But the table doesn’t always make great reading - they now face the team to jump into second place, Tranmere Rovers, on Tuesday night!
The game at Prenton Park will be yet another big test for the Silkmen but they travel knowing they’re proving week by week that they are the real deal.
Manager John Askey told the National League’s Oli Osborn that he has full confidence in his team.
“I’m very pleased, to come to Aldershot who are second in the league and win is really important,” he said.
“Aldershot played well with ten men, but when we went to 2-0 we dominated the game. The penalty changed things, the crowd got going but we dug in.
“We have only lost one in 14 - people say we have had some bad form, but I don’t know what they’re talking about really! It was one bad result, but the players have been great.”
He added: “It’s going to be really tough on Tuesday, another first v second game. They’ve got a great crowd but hopefully we can keep performing.
“It’s just great to be involved in the title race at this stage of the season. We’re enjoying being a part of it.
“We have got a great group of players, lads who work hard for each other and for the club.”
