They secured their National League place for next season themselves after Saturday’s fine win at Harrogate Town.
It means they no longer need to worry about relegation with Braintree, Aldershot, Maidstone United and Havant already dropping.
Wood had high hopes after reaching last season’s Promotion Final.
But it wasn’t the season they wanted after failing to leave the bottom half of the table and being dragged into trouble.
Garrard says they will learn from it and move forward as Wood reassess over the close season.
“It was probably one of our best performances this season,” said a thrilled Garrard.
“I thought we were excellent against a strong side looking to earn promotion.
“The players were great on the ball and it’s a really good three points for us and it means we’re safe.
“We can now start planning for next season knowing we will be a National League club again.
“It’s not been the easiest of seasons but we need to end strongly and try to take that into next year.”
