Lockwood Takes Positives As Guiseley Earn Opening Day Point

The Lions got off the mark with a 2-2 draw against Ebbsfleet United after coming from behind.

Guiseley got their first point of the season at the first attempt with Lockwood saying he was pleased with what he saw, writes Tom Feaheny.

Speaking after his side came back from 2-1 down to get the draw Lockwood told Guiseley Radio's Colin Robertson.

"I thought it was a good game against tough opposition, it was played in the right way was end to end, we can take a lot of good things from this."

"It was always going to be a tough test for us, it is nice to get that first point on the board."

There first goal of the season was a fine volley by John Rooney that gave the Lions the lead, Lockwood said

"We have worked on a few things to see if we can get an edge from it, this was a great goal, it took guts for him to try it."

He added "It's great to see the group is listening to things, we have the characters that are willing to do this."

They next face Gateshead with Lockwood believing they can cope with the schedule.

"It is good that we have the depth that we do, as a group I think we can take a lot from this first game and move it forward for Tuesday."
