We're expecting a tense but exciting game at the home of English football as both teams do battle for a much-coveted place in the EFL next season.
Live Updates:
18:15: That's all folks! Thank you for following along as we were treated to a fitting finale to another fantastic National League campaign!
17:45: The promotion winning manager Micky Mellon is now into the press conference, here is what he has had to say.
"This is a real proud moment for me and the players, we knew what the expectation was and we have delivered," he said.
"I'm so proud of them all, we always had the belief we could do it, even at half-time, I knew we would get the chance and we have taken it.
"You almost couldn't script the way this has happened, we have all worked so hard and now we can enjoy what we have achieved."
17:26: Luke Garrard into the press conference room first.
He said: "To go 90 minutes with ten men and play as well as they did, you have to give credit to Tranmere. It's a bitter pill to swallow - it's quite upsetting.
"I'm hurting but respect to Micky Mellon's side. They're the biggest side at this level and it's probably right that they've gone up.
"As a group, to experience a promotion final first hand, we've learnt so much. I've only been managing for two-and-a-half years and I'll take a lot from today's events.
"I won't be going on holiday. I'll be going to work tomorrow and I want to win it next year. If you don't have that mentality, it's going to be a long, hard season.
"We finished fourth in the National League. We beat Fylde then beat Sutton so I'm massively proud of my players, the club and the fans. When the dust settles, I think we can look back and realise we've done fantastic."
17:17: Well there was a lot to digest in that 90 minutes! Read Tom Feaheny's match report on the game here!
17:15: Boss Micky Mellon now gets his hands on the trophy and it's greeted by an almighty roar that could probably be heard back at Prenton Park!
17:13: Skipper Steve McNulty lifts the trophy - Tranmere Rovers are back in the EFL!
17:10: Tranmere's squad start to climb the steps with medals and the Promotion Final trophy waiting for them. The crestfallen Boreham Wood team watch on from the pitch.
17:02: The Tranmere faithful are going crazy and who can blame them? They've overcome the odds today in a fascinating Promotion Final. Credit must go to Boreham Wood who more than had their say on the occasion but it will be Rovers who celebrate tonight.
17:00: FULL TIME (BW 1-2 TR): Tranmere have done it! They have won the National League Promotion Final and are promoted back to the EFL - congratulations!
16:57: Just three minutes added on. Tranmere's Super White Army are in fine voice - they are oh so close.
16:56: We're into the final minute of normal time and Tranmere are having to do a lot of defending. They have just minutes to hold on. Can they do it?
16:49: Second change for Boreham Wood. Sorba Thomas comes on for defender Danny Woodards. Can they force extra time?
16:47 GOAL(BW 1-2 TR): Tranmere are ahead! Connor Jennings' deflected cross loops to the unmarked James Norwood and his header just squirms over the line despite keeper Grant Smith getting his hand to the ball. Less than ten minutes left!
16:47: Today's official attendance at Wembley is 16,306.
16:43: Tranmere keeper Scott Davies gets extremely lucky! He drops a corner but thankfully for the stopper, his defenders just about scramble the ball away. Less than 15 minutes left now.
16:39: A close shave for Boreham Wood as a deflected low cross narrowly evades James Norwood at the back post. Still 1-1!
16:36: Boreham Wood make their first change with 20 minutes left, Joe Quigley replacing Michael Folivi.
16:33: Scott Davies has to be alert to turn Bruno Andrade's low free-kick around the post. Less than 25 minutes to go at Wembley...
16:28: Second booking for Boreham Wood. Forward Michael Folivi receives a yellow for a late challenge on makeshift right-back Jay Harris. We're still level at 1-1.
16:26: Boreham Wood enjoying plenty of possession again against the ten men of Tranmere. Rovers boss Micky Mellon gesturing to his team's fans to help gee up his side and they do.
16:12: Close for Tranmere just 30-odd seconds into the second half! Connor Jennings somehow gets himself into the penalty area, his shot is saved by Grant Smith before Andy Cook's follow-up effort is diverted away for a corner.
16:10: The teams are back out - Tranmere first - ahead of a crucial half of football. Who will be celebrating come the end of the game?
16:02: Time to recover from a very interesting first 45 minutes. Rovers will have been desperate to hang on to their lead and now the Wood have momentum - you'd have to be brave to pick a winner in this one!
15:55 HALF-TIME (BW 1-1 TR): It's been a very tough half for Tranmere. Down to ten men after 50 seconds, Andy Cook then gave them a seventh-minute lead. Bruno Andrade's stoppage-time equaliser is a bitter blow, however. Still all to play for.
15:54 - GOAL (BW 1-1 TR): Just as it looked like Rovers would be ahead the break, Wood fight back and Bruno Andrade calmly slots home from a brilliant low cross from Ricky Shakes deep into added time. Game on!
15:50: Amazingly, Tranmere are forced into their third and final substitution in first-half stoppage time. Experienced midfielder Jay Harris comes on for the injured Ritchie Sutton.
15:46: We've had a couple of lengthy intervals in this first-half and that's reflected in the amount of time added on - six minutes.
15:41: Angelo Balanta goes into the referee's book. He gives away a foul for a high boot on James Norwood and then throws the ball away, earning him a yellow card.
15:34: Tranmere now forced into making their second substitute of the first half. Josh Ginnelly, who received treatment for a knock ten or so minutes ago, makes way for Connor Jennings. Crucially, Rovers still lead 1-0.
15:33: What a tackle! Michael Folivi receives the ball in the penalty area but Tranmere defender Ritchie Sutton makes a fantastic last-ditch block.
15:30: Tranmere having to do a lot of defending at the moment but they are doing it well so far. Andy Cook working hard up front on his own.
15:25: A nice passage of play from Boreham Wood sees Angelo Balanta twisting and turning in the penalty area, he goes down after a slight touch from Manny Monthe but, rightly, nothing is given.
15:15: Dave Stephens throws himself in front of another Andy Cook effort - Wood have started slowly here.
15:10: Early tactical substitution from Tranmere as Eddie Clarke replaces Larnell Cole.
15:07 - GOAL (BW 0-1 TR): The ten men are in front! A quick throw-in finds James Norwood who lifts in a cross from the byline and top scorer Andy Cook does brilliantly to beat Scott Doe to the ball and head emphatically past Grant Smith. What a breathtaking start at Wembley!
15:02 - RED CARD (Tranmere): Drama already! Just 50 seconds into the game and Tranmere are down to ten as Liam Ridehalgh goes slightly over the ball with his attempted tackle on Ricky Shakes. Ref Hair has no hesitation and brandishes a red card!

14:57: A super rendition of God Save The Queen from Martin Toal and we're just minutes from kick-off!
