Lions Are Ready To Roar With National League Talents

By Sam Elliott

Paul Fairclough says he can’t wait to see his England C side in action again as he challenged international hopefuls to impress before the squad is announced.

The Three Lions will head to Wales for an International Challenge Match at Llanelli Town’s Stebonheath Park on Tuesday March 19.

Mark Jones’ side are seeking revenge following a 1-0 defeat in Altrincham last year - and Fairclough is of course keen for back-to-back wins.

The match sees players from the National League and below represent their country in two months’ time against a side made up of players from Wales Cymru Leagues.

A goal from Ryan De Havilland earned victory last time out and that performance helped earn the player a move to League One gem-polishers Peterborough United. He’s not the only one with two other talents grabbing EFL moves since the last meeting.

Now the current crop - expected to be announced late next month - have been challenged to take their chance.

Speaking to the Non-League Paper, excited former Barnet boss Fairclough said: “I look forward with great anticipation to our annual fixture with our friends from across the border.

“The games continue to be highly competitive, offering fans a feast of entertainment from two groups of talented players.”
