Lincoln Hit Newcomers For Six!

Danny Cowley`s fancied Lincoln side head the fledgling table after hammering FA Trophy holders and newly-promoted North Ferriby United 6-1at Sincil Bank.

The Imps surged into a 3-0 lead after just 16 minutes thanks to goals from Matt Rhead after 2 minutes, Nathan Arnold 3 minutes later and then Luke Waterfall.

The on 23 minutes, Jonathon Margetts was fouled in the box by Ben Middleton, who was shown a straight a red card, and Rhead scored the resulting penalty.

Curtis Bateson pulled a goal back for the visitors 5 minutes later to make the half-time score 4-1.

But Margetts after 51 minutes and Bradley Wood on 66 minutes added further woes to ten-man Ferriby.

Tranmere have also been tipped to do well this season by the pundits and they beat Barrow AFC 2-0 at Prenton Park.

After an opening half-hour of few chances, Barrow`s Jordan Willams had an effort deflected behind by veteran defender Steve McNulty and at the other end, James Norwood missed a golden chance when clean through.

Wood then took the game away from the hosts with two goals in 2 minutes shortly afterwards.

Bruno Andrade fired home from close-range to make it 2-1, and then Angelo Balanta, who was ironically on trial with Dover in pre-season before going to Wood, made it 3-1.

Andrade made it 4-1 in the 77th minute with a deflected free-kick that wrong-footed former Forest Green Rovers `keeper Arnold.
