Limbrick: We Should Have Beaten Peterborough

By Sam Elliott

Woking manager Anthony Limbrick felt his team fully deserved to beat Peterborough United in the FA Cup second round this afternoon.

The National League Cards will be in the draw on Monday night alongside Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal but they have to negotiate a replay at London Road to get their chance to play against a giant.

The 1-1 draw was secured when Joe Ward levelled late on and Limbrick - who saw his side miss a first-half penalty - said his players didn’t celebrate the achievement.

“They player executed the game plan perfectly and it’s such a shame we could actually go on to win the game,” the manager said.

“The atmosphere in the dressing room was a bit strange actually because we haven’t won it and we thought we deserved to.

“When you are pushing a good League One side like we did that’s a credit to us. When I saw us pass the ball like we did, that was some of the best stuff we have seen this season.

”I can’t ask any more of the players. There’s no reason why we can’t do it again like we did last time. Everyone was at a high level.

“I was a shame we didn’t get that second goal that our play deserved.”

Chez Isaac saw his penalty saved in the first half and Limbrick praised his midfielder’s reaction to the mental blow.

“Chez was outstanding,” he said. “His work hard and passing were fantastic and he put the penalty miss to the back of his mind.”
