Liam Hughes Thanks Quakers' Fans For 'Touching' Support

Darlington's Liam Hughes has thanked fans for their support after he spoke out about his mental health problems.

Hughes first revealed his battles with mental health in September last year in an interview with the club and has since taken a month away from football.

Darlington fans paid tribute to the brave defender throughout their game with Spennymoor Town, something Hughes admits is helping him.

“I would like to thank everyone very much for all their kind thoughts and support,” he told the club's website.

“It was very touching when I heard people chanting my name in the Spennymoor game and raising awareness about mental health issues. It’s nice to know that I have that kind of support.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again at the Blyth game."

If you need to talk to anyone about mental health, there are a number of charities who can help such as Mind.
